Fully restored 1946 Chevrolet 3100 Series Pick-Up. This Chevrolet 3100 Pick-up is a superb example of the "Art Deco" trucks of the post-war era and is the product of a no-expense-spared, every-nut-and-bolt restoration. The restoration was commissioned by a local vintage truck enthusiast who has been the truck's only owner for the past 14 years. After being purchased in late 2000, this 3100 remained unrestored until 2011 when the restoration was undertaken by Ron Chapman of Gig Harbor, WA. Every conceivable component has been rebuilt, refinished or replaced, and over $93,000 has been invested in restoring this 3100.
The engine, which is a transplant from a 1959 Chevrolet (a common upgrade for restored Art Deco-era trucks), was rebuilt, along with the 4-speed manual transmission and rear end (believed to be the original units). The body was stripped and professionally refinished in Commercial Red with Black and all new chrome & polished steel trim. The truck rides on black painted wheels with chrome wheel caps and correct bias-ply Firestone wide white wall tires.
Inside, the cabin features a bench seat with all new black vinyl upholstery and contrasting red piping. The interior also features a custom black instrument cluster with white gauge faces, an auxiliary temperature gauge, under-dash heater and pop-out front windows. The bed rails have been powder coated and new Pine boards were installed and have been sealed and clear coated for longevity.
We have two large parcels of information regarding this 1946 Chevrolet on file, which include complete records for the restoration work and a hand-written ledger that totals $93,906. A large number of 3100-series information, guides and history are also included.
1946 was the first year that Chevrolet resumed civilian production after WWII and the Art Deco Era Pick-Ups are a consistent favorite among domestic post-war collectors and enthusiasts.
