1-owner 1964 Shelby Cobra FIA/SCCA Re-Creation. Built and equipped for performance, this Shelby Cobra is a high-quality recreation of the FIA and SCCA-spec Cobra race cars of the 1960s. The car was built and outfitted by Unique Motorcars in 1996 (50-state compliant) and has been extremely well-kept and meticulously maintained by only one owner since being built.
This Cobra was originally powered by a 351ci V8, but that was deemed by this Cobra's only owner as underpowered and was subsequently rebuilt and bored to 402ci. The professionally rebuilt and balanced engine is backed by a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission driving a limited slip rear end. The engine was re-built in 2000 with high performance internals including Keith Black Hypereutectic Pistons, Manley Valves, hydraulic lifters, roller rockers, Clevite 77 high performance bearings and a competition crank. Further performance components include a 750CFM Holley carburetor, Weiland Stealth aluminum intake, 4-core aluminum radiator, AFR aluminum heads, aluminum valve covers, Mallory ignition, high-volume fuel pump, high-volume oil pump, oil cooler and an 8qt road racing oil pan. Topping it all off are Jet Hot coated headers and ground-shaking side-exit exhaust.
To handle the high performance engine, this Cobra sits on a powdercoated chassis with a 4-wheel independent adjustable coilover suspension, rack & pinion steering and 4-wheel disc brakes (inboard rear) provide incredible stopping power behind 15" knock-off wheels.
The fiberglass body was finished in Vintage FIA/SCCA race livery with gorgeous Portofino Blue paint and LeMans style fuel filler, wing windows, quick jacks and heavy-duty roll bar. The interior is outfitted with leather seats and Simpson racing harnesses for driver and passenger, correct wood rim steering wheel, Stewart Warner instrumentation, black carpeting and aluminum AC pedals.
The original order sheets for this Cobra are on file alongside the original engine built sheet and engine rebuild records, as well as all service and maintenance records back to new.
This FIA/SCCA Cobra re-creation is far and away one of the most well-appointed and highest quality Cobra re-creations that we've come across, and would an excellent choice for any track day or just intimidating the competition at the next local car show. If you're a Cobra enthusiast, you need to check this one out before it's gone.
