This stellar 1955 Ford Thunderbird is beautifully finished in crisp Snowshoe White over a excellent two-tone Red with White interior, with matching original porthole hardtop and softtop. A very strong running car with the original 292 ci V8 motor and a smooth shifting automatic transmission. It is nicely optioned with power steering, brakes and power seat, all in excellent working order. All stainless and chrome bright work and emblems are in excellent condition. It is a beautiful San Jose, CA car with only 66k miles. An extremely straight car with excellent quarter panels, doors and fenders. The inner rockers, body mounts and floor pans are very clean with factory original paint. Engine compartment is detailed to high standards, including engine, suspension and frame. Rebuilt original radiator, new engine compartment wiring and 8 volt system for easier starting (includes 8 volt charger). The product of an older restoration that shows very well. Restored with ORIGINAL optional T-Bird engine dress up kit. Just about everything under the hood has been replaced with the best quality factory spec parts. Interior was totally stripped , dash removed and everything rebuilt including gauges, speedometer, radio mp3 connector installed, clock and heater. New factory carpet and jute underlay. Rebuilt seat and factory correct red/white seat cover. New door panels, trim and seat belts. Thunderbird rubber floor mats. Detailed trunk including spare tire, restored jack and new mat. New emblems. The 1955 bird has a very Rare original 1950s Foxcraft continental kit. Firestone 6.70 x 15? wide whitewall tires with factory correct accessory wire basket hubcaps. Fully restored soft top with premium quality Haatz black canvas top. This is an outstanding early production example of the rare and desirable First Generation T-Bird that is ready to drive, show and enjoy for many years to come. This 1955 Thunderbird is a high-quality example that will be a great addition to any garage or collection.

Classic and Timeless Design. This 1955 Thunderbird is a very well-preserved example of the iconic American roadster, it also has matching hardtop. The restoration was undertaken with an eye to keeping this T-Bird as close as possible to the way it rolled off the assembly line in early 1955. The body shows excellent panel gaps and fit, all of the brightwork has been refinished or replated, and the car even rides on wide white wall tires with chrome wire wheel covers. This T-bird has a fabulous look.

The engine bay is also restored to new-stock condition, with an eye toward originality throughout. The interior presents at a very high level, with finishings, gauges, knobs and controls all in excellent condition. This roadster also has rare features and details that are unique to the early '55 Thunderbirds include Ford crest and crossed flag emblems, Flat 2-spoke steering wheel with clear plastic spokes and domed hub. No front fender vents, Chrome "doughnut" exhaust ring (early production cars only), Wedge-shaped heater knobs. No vent windows.

Ford's Thunderbird created to act as a retort to the Chevrolet Corvette, but rather than becoming a rival to the European sports cars imported into the United States, Ford created a completely new market segment around the Thunderbird, the personal luxury car. While a performance car in its own right, the Thunderbird focused more on comfort than speed. A total of 53,166 units were produced for the three model years 1955-1957, with only 16,155 made in 1955.
