Total frame-off restoration! 1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible finished in White with Black interior. Powered by a 348c.i. Tri-Power V8 engine with a very rare Turbo Glide Automatic Transmission. The 1960 Impala was more conservative than its big-winged predecessor. Starting in 1958 as a Bel-Air model, the Impala grew into one of Chevrolet's, and America's, most historic and recognizable cars. In 1959 the Impala became its own model, shedding the Bel-Air label. The designs were bold and during the first couple of years featured tear-dropped shaped taillights with huge fins that met at a "V" at the rear of the car. Bold designs and the need to design big fins had diminished as customers wanted something more sleek and simple. Though not completely getting rid of the bold designs, Chevy cut down the fin size and created a sleeker look that was considered "jet smooth" for their cars. Along with the new body lines, the rear end of the Impala also featured symmetrical circular triple taillights. Though redesigned, Chevy produced and sold more Impalas in 1960 than the two years before. Even today, Impalas are recognizable no matter what year.

This Impala was purchased new in California as a "heater delete" car and has spent the last 15 years on display as part of General Motor's private collection and has only gathered 2,234 very careful miles since the restoration. The body was totally rust free when it was taken off its frame, stripped, freshly primed, and painted. Everything has been redone with GM parts. The top was replaced with an Electron top and is just as perfect as the rest of the car. Inside the pristine engine bay, you will find Carburetors that look brand new with tags still on them, all hoses and belts with imprints still on them, correct style battery, and correct wire looms. This car features the very rare Turbo-Glide transmission that featured the "GR" position on the shifter column. GR stands for "Grade Retard" and is used in areas with hills. Continuing throughout the car, the underside shows just as magnificently and is all brand new. The factory numbers are still located on the transmission and factory rings at the drive shaft yoke. The interior features a digitally converted AM/FM receiver, while everything else is like new in all respects and compliments the rest of the car perfectly. Original keys with the key number tabs in them are available. Stepping into the car you will notice the door sill plates are perfect as well. All of the exterior trim is new or has been restored. It will also include the original license plate frame from Courtesy Chevrolet in Los Angeles, where is was purchased.

World Class and one of the best examples available, this Impala is equipped with all new power brakes, power steering, factory AM radio, factory clock (updated to quartz movement and works perfectly, and Coker radial tires. This car was overwhelmingly voted best in show at the November Palm Springs classic car show. Checked and re-checked, this Impala is ready to go wherever you want.
