1965 Shelby Cobra Everett Morrison
In 1961, due to health concerns, Carroll Shelby was forced to hang up his racing helmet and began selling sports cars to racers around the southwest United States. Shelby decided that he wanted to develop his own sports car that would be equally at home on the street and the race track.
This 1965 Shelby Cobra Replica was built by well-known Cobra producer Everett Morrison and is finished in Spies Hecker Red. This fiberglass-bodied example has been finished with Halibrand-style knock-off wheels wrapped in high-performance rubber and the Cobra signature side exit exhaust down the side of the car.
Finished in black leather, the interior is simple, like in the original cars, leaving nothing to distract the driver from piloting the car. With just two bucket seats, a tall shifter for the manual gearbox positioned high near the wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a host of gauges laid out before you, this is faithful to the original car's simplicity.
Sitting under the hood is a stout pro-built 351ci Cleveland V8,, that is topped by an aluminum intake and Quickfuel Black Diamond carburetor and paired with a mild performance camshaft. Open the hood, and the engine is adorned with numerous dress-up pieces, including Shelby branded valve covers and a Cobra air cleaner. Power is then sent through a 4-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels- just like the original. Sitting out back is an independent suspension from a Corvette, which is paired with double adjustable coilovers at all four corners that allow you can dial in both the ride height of the car and the shock stiffness. Wilwood disc brakes are fitted on each wheel to help slow the car down.
With original Cobra values continuing to skyrocket, a replica like this Everett Morrison is a great way to have the Cobra experience at a fraction of the price of an original.
