The Pro-Built 396 engine features 4-Bolt Steel Crank, Gasket-Matched Oval Porting, Manley Valves, Comp 268HE Camshaft, Comp Roller-Tip Rockers, Comp Pushrods, Milling High-Volume/High-Pressure Oil Pump, March Under-Drive Pulleys, MSD Ignition System with Rev Control. The transmission is a TCI TH400 with B&M Hole-Shot 2000 Converter. The suspension features Hotchkiss 2" Drop Springs, Classic Industries 2" Drop Spindle with late-model OE power disc brakes. Koni gas-adjust shocks, Hotchkiss tubular tie-rod adjusters, Corvette brakes, Billet wheel spacers, 16" Camaro wheels with newer ZR-rated tires, AGR quick-ratio steering box with blueprinted pump, Addco sway bars, Poly-graphite rebuild kit. The Chevy El Camino is an icon, the most accessible example of GM's wildly popular, expensive A-body musclecars, and full of tire-roasting potential. Built to provide modern reliability and a streetable driving attitude, this 396 El Camino sits just right and it drives like the dream it is.

Named in Spanish for 'The Path', Chevrolet El Camino is a coupe utility/pickup vehicle that was produced by Chevrolet between 1959--60 and 1964-87. Introduced in the 1959--1960 model years in response to the success of the Ford Ranchero pickup, its first run lasted only two years. Production resumed for the 1964--1977 model years based on the Chevelle platform, and continued for the 1978--1987 model years. Chevrolet reintroduced an all new, mid-size El Camino in '64 based on the Chevrolet Chevelle. Chevrolet marketed the vehicle as a utility model and Chevelle's most powerful engines were not available. Chevy introduced a longer El Camino in 1968, based on the Chevelle station wagon/four-door sedan wheelbase, it also shared Chevelle Malibu exterior and interior trims. The El Camino was so closely related to the Chevelle that everything from the windshield forward was largely interchangeable throughout both cars' generations, and engines were shared. But perhaps the best-known El Camino model was the legendary SS, a $444 upgrade in 1968, the only year it was its own stand-alone model.
