The Boxster's acceleration is particularly impressive -- a result of its direct-injected 2.7L flat-six, rated at 265HP with 206 lb-ft of torque, and paired with a proper six-speed manual transmission. The variable-ratio electric power-steering system is very responsive and precise, and the large front brakes are shared with the 911. More aggressive and exotic than before, the new Boxster might be considered a 2-seat 911 cabrio, with its engine set in the middle, which is where Dr. Ferry Porsche originally intended it to be.
