There is little doubt that the Shelby Cobra is the quintessential American sports car. Its English roots paired with a powerful American V8, the Cobra took the fight to the Europeans and won on the track time and time again. With original cars now trading for deep in the 7-figure range, it is of little surprise that numerous cottage industries have sprouted up producing recreations of this famed car. The Factory Five Roadster is one of the world's best-selling, best-engineered, and best-performing replicas of all time.

Finished a classic Shelby color scheme of deep Metallic Dark Sapphire Blue with a pair of silver over-the-top stripes, this replica checks all the boxes that you look for on a classic Cobra including stainless side exhausts, a LeMans-style quick fuel filler cap, and chrome roll hoop behind the driver. Of course, the car sits on a set of Halibrand-style wheels with 3-ear knock offs in the center, which are wrapped in meaty rubber for a proper, aggressive look.
The interior is typically sparse Cobra, with a pair of leather-wrapped bucket seats and a large 3-spoke wood rimmed steering wheel with a quick release hub for easy entry. White on black Autometer instrumentation gives this Cobra a sporting feel along with the Simpson 4-point belts for both seats. On the dash you'll find an array of modern switchgear along with buttons for the heated seats to keep you comfortable on brisk morning drives. Open the small driver's door and drop down into the seat and the view out the hood is spectacular. The two large pontoon fenders situated out in front of you with a hood scoop down the center makes you feel like you are racing at LeMans even before you've left your driveway.
Of course no Cobra would be complete without a performance engine sitting under the hood and this car is no exception. Open the hood and you'll find a 340hp 302c.i. V-8 with GT-40 heads adorned with finned aluminum valve covers. Sitting on top of the engine is an Edelbrock 1405 4bbl carburetor on an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake and an aluminum radiator. Power is then sent through a Tremec 5spd gearbox to a Ford 8.8 rear differential. The car has Wilwood disc brakes and a front mount battery for a lower center of gravity.
This Factory 5 Cobra is a wonderful car to drive with straight line performance that rivals many modern cars. The looks, the sound, the driving experience are all truly one of a kind, and can be experienced here, in very true to original form, for a fraction of the price of a legitimate Shelby.
