2002 Dodge Viper
 
In 1996, Dodge unveiled their first redesign of their halo car, the Viper. A smoother and more modern design, the second generation Viper has been lauded by many as the most beautiful design of the entire Viper model run. A major shift for this generation was Dodge’s decision to move the exhaust from the sides of the car to the center-rear- this increased power and helped make the car more usable. The idea of making the cars more usable was paramount with this generation of the Viper- plastic windows from the previous generation were replaced with glass and the canvas top became a fiberglass piece. Although the refinement went up, so did the performance, many suspension pieces that were steel in the previous model were now aluminum. This reduced weight by over 60lbs, at the same time, power was increased a few times over the course of the model run with it growing to 450hp by 1997. 
 
This 2002 Dodge Viper RT/10 is a beautiful example of one of the most sought after performance cars of the early 2000s. Still just as exciting to drive today, this Viper is powered by an enormous 8.0-Liter V10 that produces 450hp and 490lb-ft of torque. A robust 6-Speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels with nothing in the way of driver aids- you are in full control of the car. This car features the updated factory exhaust manifolds that save over 24lbs over the previous cast units and improve the sound emitted from the dual exit rear exhaust. In all, Dodge was able to shave over 200 pounds from the second generation Viper while increasing the structural rigidity by nearly 25 percent. This means it is able to pull 1G on the skid pad and is just as comfortable on the track as it is your favorite backroad. 
 
Visually, this car has tremendous curb appeal- finished in a glistening shade of red, the paint  is paired with a set of chrome 5-spoke wheels that are wrapped in 275 section tires in front and massive 335s in the rear. On the inside, the black leather bucket seats look as good as the day they came out of the factory and a set of 6 white faced gauges give you a comprehensive look at the car’s vitals. Everything on this example is stock and it comes with the car’s original books and manuals. If you are looking for a car with a truly thrilling driving experience in exceptional condition, you will be hard pressed to find a better vehicle than this Dodge Viper.
