A fabulous executive-class sedan that came with a long list of desired factory options, including; AMG Performance Package, AMG Styling Package, 18" AMG Alloy Wheels, Premium Audio System, Front Seat Heating, Equipment Package for Avant Garde Vehicles, Bi-Xenon Headlamps, Cornering Illumination, Electric Rear Window Roller Blind, Mechanical Locking Differential, Power Front Seats with Memory Package. The throaty growl of the terrific-sounding V8 engine is as potent as it sounds. The C63 AMG's DTM-inspired bodywork looks great, giving the C63 an aggressive appearance that leaves no doubt as to what it does best, and the true hardware lives up to expectations. From the moment you turn the key and the V8 belches awake with a deep tone, you know you're in for a great ride. The big displacement, AMG-tuned V8 engine delivers 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Acceleration is brutal, but what may be the most impressive thing of all is how well this AMG C63 performs.
Behind the wheel, you find yourself in perfect driving position thanks to the outstanding seats with massive side bolsters and the flat-bottom steering wheel signals that Mercedes-Benz meant the car to handle. The wheel itself is sweet, with a flat-bottom design and touch-points trimmed in Alcantara. A button on the console changes the transmission response between Comfort, Sport, and Manual modes, but in any mode we could sequentially choose gears by moving the shift from side to side or hitting the steering-wheel-mounted paddles.
There's always plenty of go available at any speed or throttle position; this is one of those imminently enjoyable cars that sucks you into slicing both corners and straights into oblivion at even the slightest opportunity. It's not a one-trick pony, either. The road manners and handling of this car are exceptional. It torches corners with a large dose of grip, composure, and responsive steering. Turning the wheel reveals a strong connection to the wheels, with a firmness afforded by few other cars. And you get a back seat real people can use, so you can share the AMG joy with more friends.
