The GT-R Premium presented here sports a plethora of high end equipment, helping make it one of the best hi-performance values anywhere. Everything from a 3.8L twin turbocharged V6, Bilstein Damptronic suspension, Brembo brakes, a dual-clutch transmission that shifts faster than Kim Kardashian uploading online-selfies, to 20-in forged wheels with "near black" metallic wheel finish help solidify its performance chops. Must-have features include ultra-supportive sport seats, aluminum interior trim, magnesium paddle shifters, Nissan Hard Drive Nav, Bose Audio Pilot, push button ignition, an iPod interface, and optional GT-R floor mats. Premium models also add seat heaters, Bose audio system w/ dual subwoofers, and with Music Box hard-drive storage. The optional Super Silver metallic paint finished added a $3000 to the original MSRP.
The GT-R's powerplant is the most powerful production engine Nissan has ever built. This is truly a supercar, with output from its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-6 at an impressive 485hp and 434 lb-ft of torque, an all-wheel drive system working in unison with a stout, paddle-shifted automated manual transmission (no clutch pedal here), and massive Brembo brake calipers. The GT-R delivers dizzying acceleration, with 0-60 times of about 3.3 seconds, along with amazing stopping capability.
The GT-R's handling is brilliant, and its adjustability gives the GT-R something of a cushion on public roads -- made more assuring with the variable-power-split all-wheel-drive system, turning mere mortals into superhero hot-shoes. The GT-R boasts a flared-out, front-reaching design with a rakish roofline cut, and a prominent rear wing adds to its menacing stance. Think of the GT-R as a race-worthy car adapted for the street.
In addition, the GT-R's navigation / instrument layout deserve special note -- the automaker even hired designers who worked on Sony PlayStation's Gran Turismo game to help design the interface. The navigation screen hosts a total of 11 driver-selectable functions that display everything from oil temperature / pressure, turbo boost, and fuel economy, to steering angle, acceleration and braking, AWD torque distribution, and lateral, acceleration and braking g-force readings.
