2013 Subaru BRZ in Grey over a two-tone Black interior with Red contrast stitching. 2.0L/200hp 4-Cylinder Boxer Engine. 6-Speed Manual Transmission. Only 14,275 one-owner miles. Underneath the BRZ's hood is the same 2.0-liter, horizontally opposed (aka Boxer), four-cylinder engine that you'll find powering the Scion FR-S. There are no tuning differences or surprises here. Power is given as 200 horsepower and the crank is twisted with 151 pound-feet of torque. That torque is multiplied by a standard six-speed manual transmission before reaching the rear axle, where it is split between the 17-inch wheels via a Torsen limited-slip differential. With under 15k miles from new, this BRX is in excellent condition throughout, it runs and drives excellent and will be a great first car or an economic, reliable and highly enjoyable sports car.
Subaru's BRZ brings an all new driving experience to the brand as a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive coupe, built with balance and maneuverability in mind. The BRZ is tuned as a driver's machine. Even mundane driving showcases confidence-inspiring response, steering, and braking awaiting to eagerly obey the slightest input.
The BRZ has a traditional sports car look with a long nose and short tail. Its coupe-only configuration keeps weight as low as possible, as does the aluminum hood. The front styling shows an aggressive wide opening and angular headlights for a menacing look, while out back, aerodynamic rear styling surrounds the dual exhaust. The inside has room for up to four people with seats mounted low for maximum space. The gauge cluster is driver-focused with a center-mounted tachometer to keep driver's attention on the engine's vitals. A sunroof is purposely omitted to avoid unnecessary weight, and a hatchback body style was also avoided to keep weight low, and rear seats fold down to give maximum storage space.
The 2013 Subaru BRZ's ergonomics are fantastic. The steering wheel and shifter fall perfectly into hand, and the seat offers a good amount of manual adjustment to make sure of that. Deep bolstering on the seats helps keep the driver in place during hard cornering. Subaru's designers have clearly done a good job of wrapping the cockpit around the driver. This car comes well equipped with an excellent six-speed manual, body-hugging cloth seats, touch-screen navigation, and a cocoon of six airbags.
The Boxer engine's exhaust note has a nice burble at wide-open throttle that, while not as guttural as the Subaru Impreza WRX's note or as loud as the WRX STI's, has a nice deepness when compared with the buzzy in-line four-cylinder engines that it competes with. More importantly, the engine feels responsive. The 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed boxer makes 200 horsepower and 151 pounds-feet of torque. It is bolstered with Toyota's direct-injection fuel system that uses both port injection and direct injection to achieve the FR-S' impressive gas mileage ratings.
