Modern Cabin, Crafted By Hand - Among the many discoveries possible in a G-Class is the lost art of a cabin crafted almost entirely by hand. Abundant luxury, from heated 10-way power front seats to COMAND navigation, deliver advanced technology with old-world quality and attention to detail. Nappa leather and DINAMICA cover the seats, and are topstitched to the dash and door inserts. Carbon fiber and chrome accents add racy ambience, while advanced technology presents itself with modern style and functional elegance.
Exclusive "4x4 Squared" Styling - The aggressively capable design of the G 550 4x4-squared is reflected in its styling as well. Stainless steel front and rear underguards, carbon fiber fender-flare extensions and the deletion of the rear-mounted spare tire enhance its off-road abilities. The roof is painted Obsidian Black, or matte designo Night Black Magno with all designo Magno body colors. And the brake calipers and springs are painted bright red, to highlight their presence and prowess.
"Hot Inside V" Turbocharger Configuration - For better performance and packaging, the V8's twin turbos are placed inside the "V" of the engine. The layout sends the compressed charge from each turbo to its bank of cylinders via an extremely short path, with near-zero pressure loss or turbo lag. The high-pressure turbos spool up quickly to provide up to 14.5 psi of boost. The setup is also highly efficient from intake to exhaust, with liquid-cooled intercoolers and close-mounted catalysts that reach peak efficiency in seconds.
4.0L V8 Biturbo Engine - Advanced performance comes from a high-output engine with a more compact size. The 416-hp 4.0L biturbo V8 is more responsive, making 100% of its 450 lb-ft of peak torque available from 2,250-4,750 rpm, for a 7.3-second 0-60 rush and instant response at any speed. And its innovative design combines racing-derived technology, from its turbocharger layout to its low-friction cylinder walls.
All Mercedes and ready for any terrain, the G550 4x4 squared is as capable as any SUV on the road. It's also all luxury and offers some of the best materials Mercedes has to offer. Ground clearance is nearly 18 inches, more than enough to make it through a path in the woods. The V8 engine gives it that recognizable exhaust note with a low menacing burble. Though the 6,500-pound curb weight might frighten some, the driving aspects of this SUV are impeccable. Steering was created to be nearly effortless and the body roll has also been minimalized to showcase a drive you might only get in Mercedes S-class. Overall the materials are high-end and Mercedes didn't spare any expense with the build quality.
