When it comes to buying a specialty vehicle, everybody has different desires. For some, the objective is outright performance, for others, it is a nostalgic purchase of something from their childhood. But for those looking at this Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500, it is all about camping. Although from the outside this Sprinter looks like your typical, "High Roof" van, finished in High-tech Silver Metallic, open the sliding doors and you will see sleeping accommodations for 4 in great comfort. Showing 33,105 miles, this Sprinter is ready for your next adventure and will provide years of enjoyment for its new owner.
When this Sprinter 2500 was new, it was sent to Scallywagon Adventure Vans in Fife, WA, at which point it was outfitted as a multi-configuration van. Where most vans of this sort are solely focused on the sleeping quarters in the rear, this Sprinter was designed, knowing that you may still need to carry around more than just the front two passengers. Because of this, a removable second row bench seat offers seating for 5, while still being able to accommodate 4 campers behind the seats. The sleeping sections are split into 2 full-size sleeping pads, in a bunk-bed style at the rear of the van, leaving plenty of room to still move around inside while the sleeping pads are in place. A Maxx Air overhead ventilation fan keeps it from getting too stuffy overnight and will keep the interior cool even on those hot summer camping excursions. Additionally, in an effort to maintain a comfortable temperature regardless of when you're using the van, 3" synthetic insulation has been installed throughout the van which keeps the warmth in during the winter, and the heat out in the summer.
The conversion on this Sprinter didn't just consist of installing beds though- this van is equipped to be your home away from home on backcountry trips, or extended road tripping in isolated areas. A 7 gallon freshwater/10 gallon gray water tank setup was installed, ensuring you have both potable drinking water, as well as storage for water from washing up after you cook. A 2-burner propane stove is set into the custom made cabinet and counter set, and sits next to a fresh water sink. When prepping meals, the counter area is extendable, and a diesel powered instant-hot water heater makes getting water boiling a breeze. A Dometic electric cooler/freezer is fitted in the rear which will keep your perishables good for days on end and uses minimal power to do so. An exterior shower has been plumbed as well to save space inside the van, but to ensure you can keep clean, and on the interior, a TV with DVD player is mounted overhead- giving movie viewing capabilities without sacrificing space for other necessities.
Powering this Sprinter is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 producing 188 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox, this stout powertrain sends power to all 4 wheels and is plenty to get this Sprinter up to speed and help it cruise on the highway effortlessly, even with the extra weight of the camper conversion. To make this Sprinter even more versatile, a 2.5" suspension lift has been installed, which is paired with a set of 17" Method Racing wheels and knobby 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeak tires. If you have additional items you want to bring along, this van is equipped with a 5,000 lb towing capacity and a swing away hitch under the rear bumper.
This Sprinter 2500 camper conversion is a supremely useful vehicle that is bound to be one of the ultimate ways to make memories with your family.
