According to Ford, the two-seat cockpit "reflects the exterior design and the car's romantic heritage with bold style combined with the comfort and convenience today's customers demand." The interior trim complements the body color. Standard features include automatic dual-zone air conditioning, a tachometer, a six-way power driver's seat, a leather-wrapped tilt/telescoping steering wheel and an in-dash six-CD changer.
In the short-lived thirteenth generation, Thunderbird rediscovered its roots. Produced from 2002 through 2005, the "Retro Birds" were the Camelot-on-Wheels. The model resurrected the classic American two-seat convertible. The round headlights and fog lights, hood scoop, large checkerboard grill and long tapering lines returned, coordinated in a thoroughly modern package. The 2005 Thunderbird features design aspects of the original 1955 car, the 1962 car, and some other, earlier Thunderbirds, but Ford doesn't talk about this car in terms of 'retro' design because it has so much modern equipment in it, on it and underneath it.
