'Plus' models include 25hp upgrade, firmer R8 GT springs & dampers, 7-speed dual clutch S-Tronic transmission with launch control, carbon ceramic brakes. A 66-lb weight reduction due to interior and exterior carbon trim. Optional Diamond Stitch Full Leather Package (Nappa leather, full leather, contrast stitching, 8-way power seats). B&O audio, Black Alcantara headliner, Audi music interface w/ iPod connect, standard Navigation, carbon mirrors, Bluetooth®, back-up camera, paddle shifters, new for 2014 includes LED headlamps & taillamps, revised grille, round exhaust tips. Any discussion of an R8 has to begin with the powerplant behind the seats. For the 5.2 model, Audi managed to shoehorn 5.2Ls of glorious Lamborghini-derived V10 power and sound into the R8 with virtually no modification between the 4.2 and 5.2 bodies. As with virtually all Audis, this R8 features Quattro all-wheel drive for surefooted grip and with a 15:85 front/rear torque distribution, the R8 doesn't lose all of the feeling of a RWD coupe. Other performance features include a performance suspension with adaptive damping, dry-sump engine lubrication, electronic differential lock and massive performance ceramic brakes.
As Audi's halo car for 2014, the R8 Plus is host to extensive luxury amenities, in addition to high performance. Full LED head lamps are standard, along with a superior Bang & Olufsen audio system, GPS navigation, Bluetooth® telephone connectivity. This example had Audi's optional Diamond Stitch Nappa Leather upholstery included from the factory. Heated power-adjustable sport seats, auto-dimming mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, front/rear parking sensors and rear-view camera. This particular R8 features optional titanium-finished twin-spoke 19" wheels, and a perforated leather flat-bottom sport steering wheel with shift paddles.
