2023 Junior 289 Cobra
When LeMans winning race driver Carroll Shelby was diagnosed with a heart condition during the 1960 race season, he knew that his days behind the wheel were numbered. But as someone who always loved going fast, he decided to pivot into the manufacturing side, building some of the fastest production cars to ever come out of the United States. Dubbed the Shelby Cobra at its introduction in 1962, the formula was simple: take a lightweight AC Ace roadster from the UK, pull out the underpowered 6-cylinder engine, and put in its place a powerful Ford V8. With just a bit of tweaking in the suspension and some of America's best drivers behind the wheel, the Cobra quickly began making a name for itself on racetracks around the US and Europe. Built for just three years between 1962 and 1965, the Cobra became one of the most sought after vehicles to ever come out of an American manufacturer and with just over 1,000 cars produced across all Cobra variants, they routinely change hands for well over $1,000,000.
When it comes to Shelby Cobras, it's hard to choose a more menacing color combination than black with white stripes. The exterior colors do a great job highlighting the exterior shape and on this Harrington Junior Cobra, it looks absolutely fabulous. The exterior paint has been combined with a black full leather interior which includes a leather dash all of which combine to give the car a classic, yet authentic look. Also on the interior is a function set of "Smiths" style gauges which are what would have been in the Cobra originally and help keep the driver updated on what is happening with the car while behind the wheel. To enhance the exterior, a set of magnesium wheels have been installed along with the upgraded brightwork and badging package- all of these together make the car look like a real deal Cobra, just shrunken down. A battery maintainer comes with the car so that when you put your Cobra away for the winter, it will fire right up on the next sunny day when you want to go for a drive. The Cobra is a true American Icon but can be prohibitively expensive to put in your garage- here is a great opportunity to have one of the all time great designs, that can be used and enjoyed but at a fraction of the price of an original and it doesn't even take up a full spot in your garage!
