2023 Junior Classic 300SL Roadster - EV
When the 300SL debuted in 1955, it redefined what a supercar was for decades to come. Based on the W194 race car which won the 24 Hours of LeMans in 1952, the 300SL featured a long list of "firsts" in a production car and went on to earn itself a prominent place in automotive history. Powered by a 3-Liter Straight-6, the 300SL utilized a unique mechanical fuel injection system with direct injection- this technology was first experimented with on fighter airplanes but, absolutely unheard of in the automotive world at the time. When paired with the car's lightweight space frame chassis, the 300SL was capable of over 150mph and had unparalleled reliability to go along with it. When the 300SL went on sale, it was only available as a coupe with the legendary Gullwing doors but it quickly became clear that although beautiful, the interior was hot and cramped which made it a less than ideal road car. Around 1957, American car importer Max Hoffman encouraged Mercedes to build and sell a roadster version of the 300SL which many cite as the best of the 300SLs.
This Junior Classic 300SL Roadster has been specified in a beautiful shade of Fire Engine Red which does an outstanding job of showing off the lines of the 300SL. When paired with a tan full leather interior with color matched carpets, this color combination is one of the most popular duos on the 300SL and gives the car the perfect classic look and will be a perfect addition to any garage. When the 300SL was in production, one of the most expensive and now most sought after options was the famed Rudge wheels- a steel wheel with a knock off locking mechanism- and this 300SL has a beautiful polished set of them to take the aesthetics of the car to the next level.
